Sonotech : Sonotrace

SONOTRACE is a moderately priced, ambient temperature, water-based, glycerine-free ultrasonic couplant for flaw detection and thickness gaging where Halogens, Sulfur and low melting point metals must be kept to a minimum and glycerine is to be avoided.

SONOTRACE meets the Halogens and Sulfur requirements specified in NAVSHIPS MIL-STD-767. SONOTRACE is available in three versions:

SONOTRACE
Grade 20, 30 and 40:
Offers good wetting ability and ferrous corrosion resistance.
SONOTRACE UV: Contains an ultraviolet fluorescent tracer that assures complete coverage and overlap as well as complete removal when observed with a black light.  Sonotrace UV’s fluorescent tracer properties are helpful where inspection coverage requires review by governing body or management.
SONOTRACE UVG: Contains a daylight green tracer that can be seen with the naked eye or with the aid of a black light.

SONOTRACE BRIGHT:

Contains additional pigment for inspections that require a high visibility couplant.  Sonotrace Bright is a custom blend developed specifically for the United States Air Force to improve visual fluorescence.

SONOTRACE

- Good surface wetting capability

- Low residue -- easy to remove

- Best corrosion inhibition of Mid Temperature Range couplants

- Maintains a good price to performance ratio

- Contains humectants to retard drying

- Meets nuclear specifications for halogens, sulfur, and low melting point metals

- Meets Boeing specifications BAC5968 and BAC5980

- Does not contain glycerine

- Water-based and water-soluble
