Sonotech : Ultragel II
General Purpose Couplant

ULTRAGEL II is Sonotech's premier ambient temperature, water-based couplant with a 27+ year history of reliability and superior performance and ferrous corrosion inhibition in the nuclear, aerospace and power generating industries. Due to its unsurpassed quality and reliability, ULTRAGEL II is the most frequently specified and used NDT couplant in the world. ULTRAGEL II is recommended for use in flaw detection, thickness gauging, flow metering, and acoustic emission testing.

ULTRAGEL II meets the Halogens and Sulfur requirements specified in NAVSHIPS MIL-STD-767. ULTRAGEL meets ASTM F519 Hydrogen Embrittlement test on high strength steel, and has been tested for composite shear modulus, and aircraft aluminum corrosion and composite adhesion.

Sonotech : UT-X Powder
Dry Powder Couplant Concentrate

UT-X® POWDER is a couplant concentrate useful for flaw detection and thickness gaging where ferrous corrosion inhibition is not a concern. UT-X POWDER incorporates a mild corrosion inhibitor, a preservative, a viscosity building polymer and ease of mixing in a pre-measured packet.

UT-X POWDER is ideal for remote inspection sites and use as an emergency back-up couplant.

If ferrous corrosion is a concern, select UT-X® FE POWDER.

Ultrasonic Flaw Detection >> Couplants >> Environmentally Safe Couplants
Sonotech : Soundsafe

SOUNDSAFE is recommended for applications where couplant may not be removed by the inspector and may later come into contact with animals, humans and waterways. It offers the highest performance of the environmentally benign family of couplants. SOUNDSAFE, a gel couplant, has a high humectant level, including glycerine, to slow drying and provide transducer lubrication. SOUNDSAFE contains an environmentally benign corrosion inhibition system for steel; however, when ferrous corrosion is of primary concern, ULTRAGEL II provides superior corrosion inhibition. SOUNDSAFE holds on overhead surfaces and fills depressions in rough surfaces, facilitating its use in flaw detection, thickness gaging, and acoustic emission testing.

SOUNDSAFE meets the Halogens and Sulfur requirements specified in NAVSHIPS MIL-STD-767.

SOUNDSAFE®

- Increased acoustic impedance for reduced surface noise

- Slow drying with excellent transducer lubrication

- Environmentally benign formula -- no VOCs

- Low skin irritation potential

- No harsh surfactants, dyes or fragrances

- Slow drying with excellent transducer lubrication

- Gel viscosity holds on a majority of overhead and vertical surfaces

- Corrosion inhibiting system for ferrous based materials

- Meets nuclear specifications for halogens, sulfur, and low melting point  metals

- Contains glycerine to extend drying time

- Water-based and water-soluble
